This page is a pictorial record of some of my favorite pieces.

Self Portraits

At a street show in 2005 a young gentleman came into my booth and struck up a conversation.  In the course of it, he asked which piece of glass in the booth best represented myself.  This piece stood out among the rest as being a portrait of myself.  I see it as an abstract dancer, raising its arms with the joy of being alive.

   Blue Moon Dancer

In 2006 the Warm Glass group had their first self portrait project.  I signed up for this to stretch myself and my glass work. I very rarely do human figures, and wanted to do something relatively realistic. I dance in public only by the light of the blue moon, but when I am working with glass, listening to my favorite music I dance in my studio. I like wearing hats and swirly dresses.

In September of 2007 our section of the world finally received access to DSL service.  Our house signed up right away so we could play World of War Craft with our boys.  This virtual role playing game allows players to interact as a team, and people from around the world can play together.  The Warm Glass community is again sharing self portraits in fused glass.  My current self image, which never agrees with the mirror, is ......

Haiku Dancer:  Tauren Hunter           In January of 2008 Haiku Dancer was all of four months old and a fierce, level 36, World of War Craft Tauren Hunter.   This photo shows the wide-eyed hunter who is still learning about the world around her  -  Which key operates the tools at her disposal  -  How to control her pet  -  How to run around without falling off high places and dying!

Waves

I live near the ocean,  my children surf. and I love to watch the waves break.
These are my first two fused glass wave panels.

Wave I                                              Wave II

Continuing in the wave series

Inspired by the abstract, it is logical to open up the waves....
To interweave the positive and negative spaces of glass and no glass.

A wave worked on opaque white glass.

In August of 2006 a table lamp was made.

Mountains & Trees

We live near Yosemite National Park.
Visiting there in the spring time one sees cascades of water as the rivers flow
down their rocky riverbeds and over waterfalls.

I Grew up in Colorado.
As a family we camped and fished in the Rocky Mountains near Steamboat Springs.
I loved the rides along dusty logging roads through the aspen groves.
This is my first Aspen in Glass piece.  It is based on a water color I did of two aspen in Colorado.
Interpreting the painting in glass was inspired by Jack Bowman who was inspired by Roger Thomas.

The watercolor version.     The fused glass interpretation.
Beverly Hill Aspen

The next aspen are inspired by fall color and the summer leaves of fishing season.

Painting

I enjoy plain air water color painting.
My beginning efforts of painterly images on the glass are somewhat encouraging.

Fish

And how can I forget the animal kingdom.  After all I have that BS in Zoology.  Birds and fish are some of my favorite animals to look at:    The reflections of light from, and the subtle variations in color on the sides of fish and feather patterns on the birds are a continual source of inspiration to me.
Of Course I then add that dash of whimsy ...... like lips on the fish.

Jellies

We live near the Monterey Bay Aquarium,  some of my favorite displays are of the jellies.
Their translucence lends itself to being interpreted in glass.

Jelly in Red  is my first successful jelly image in glass.

The series continues

Glass & Wire

Occasionally I work copper wire around a fused piece to provide a way to hang them.
I solder the wire, which stiffens it, and patina it dark.
